Enterprise: a prime Christian’s opportunity

We live in a world of business. A place where many folks from all walks of life interact with a view to enhancing their financial positions. All nations pay careful attention to this area of our lives categorizing it as economics. The goal of this whole game or endeavor is to make a profit. Simply put, this means that if you minus the cost of production of a particular good or service, accounting for the initial capital investment, you must have something left over. The bigger the profit, the better the business undertaking was.

This is certainly no new news to you; I know that. But the twist I wish to bring to your attention is Christian enterprise/companies, as something for you to consider. And what are these, you may wonder. Consider using Scriptural principles to guide you in coming up with a concept for a start-up of your own. And what, if you may, maybe your asking, are you talking specifically of? Just the normal virtues such as love, generosity, kindness, integrity, diligence, Biblical teachings, etc. Why not base a business of yours on such? The rationale? Well, all enterprise is established to serve others, and/or to make their lives better in some way, isn’t it? So what better way, don’t you agree, but to utilize the highest standards that we have available in society? (Mainly those found in the Holy Bible?)–such as those mentioned briefly earlier. This is, basically, utilizing the principle of empathy; the Golden Rule. When your motives for starting an enterprise are right, right from the bottom of your heart, of course, it will be of greater benefit to your potential customers. Might point it easier to perceive if you imagine the opposite.

But that’s not the end of my advice. Academics can add spice to the equation. Knowledge, teachings and research that you may have acquired from schools, university or personal study and insight, brought together with Scriptural principles can and will help produce better products and services for the public. I hope my light-bulb idea is making some glimmer of light to your mind and heart. The possibilities are endless!

However, you may be wondering, “Isn’t this making wealth with the sacred? A sin? Look at it another way. The absence of good companies and enterprises is the abundance of dysfunctional ones. Such as alcohol and cigarettes products, gambling businesses, toothpaste manufacturer’s that use fluoride, an apparent child-killer, aluminium sufurias, also slow-killers substance abuse drugs such as heroin, ‘ecstacy’, ‘speed’, and opioids, etc. God wants you to use your wisdom, knowledge, talents and abilities to expand and enhance his Kingdom, as well as yourself. After all, the Word says that he who does not work, must not eat.

Live for Christ, productively!
